I was at my favorite coffee supplier today for a short while and a guy just a couple tables away looked awfully familiar. Ever had that happen? So I'm sitting in my little corner (in my own little corner, in my own little chair...sorry, cinderella flashback) trying to inconspicuously observe the guy to see if he is who I think he is. he was working with another guy, they had their laptops open, and the other guy was situated in my direct line of sight to this person I might have known once.
which helped a little...I could kind of stare without being too creepy.
unfortunately, even when he stood up to leave and looked right at me (i looked right at him when he stood up, so it appeared rather casual, you know...someone gets up, it draws your attention, so you look...who doesn't?) I couldn't tell. it's been probably more than 8 years since I've seen him, so it might have been him.
oh, well. "C" satterlee, if you're out there anywhere, I thought I saw you today.
latest theme song: MOTION by plumb
and I was surprised to hear plumb redo "pray for me" by michael W. smith. that song brings back memories! back then, mws was ccm's IT guy. what is it that happens? do songwriters lose their edge? is it inevitable? will we ever know when to quit? or is the public's perspective on songwriting so subjective that it really isn't worth debating?
and oddly enough, I was playing for chris part of a song I wrote seven years ago. he came in to tell me something, I asked him if it sounded familiar, and we both agreed that it sounded just like one of our favorite tv episode scores. wierd stuff. but I wrote it first ;)

Ah, how good it is to hear your voice again (well, in my own head that is... but it will do for now).
I think it is funny how consuming it can be when you know someone looks familiar but you can't be certain... or you can't completely place them. Sometimes it hapens that you finally make the connection and you are so pleased with yourself that you approach them and launchi into this long winded explanation of all you've been wrestling with for the past 20 minutes and that you have finally realized that they are ______________ and you just wanted to say "hello" and celebrate that you figured it out. And then they kind of stare at you for a minute with a dazed look on their face. And you go back to your coffee and celebrate by yourself.
