gloriously bright

lately i've had the extreme pleasure to read books by phenomenal writers. first, it was the Dune series by Frank Herbert. (props to ike) Most recently, i have read and closed each book in a different series and can only comment, "Brilliant. Unbelievable." I just finished Xenocide, by Orson Scott Card. The depth, the scope, the undertaking these books were...i am only astounded. and fortunate to have my husband have stumbled across them and made me read the first, Ender's Game. I am speaking of science fiction, to all who are averse to all things sci-fi. but for any others brave enough to test these waters, read Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide. I can only say that Herbert and Card are amazing. Hopefully i'm not setting you up for ultimate disappointment. if i have, well...i guess we'll all live, won't we?

and now, for those of you who missed the 5:30pm news today on WZZM Channel 13, my sister, lisa, was highlighted in one of their segments! about 6:20 they interviewed two people who are spending the summer doing completely different jobs. one was a guy who climbs up towers and paints them, the other was my sister, who they showed doing her zamboni thing at the ice rink where she works. she was a little mortified, having had little sleep and not feeling that she looked her best, but it's still fun and exciting to watch her drive the zamboni, shovel ice/snow and otherwise be supremely cool.

so, since she didn't feel she looked good on tv, here's a shot of us at a wedding a couple weekends ago, where she DID look good!! (she's the hot, single one on the right! hhehehe)

Do you have Xenocide? I could stand to re-read Ender and then read the sequel...glad to hear that your sci-fi taste is so mighty (as if there were ever any doubt!)
