to my husband! who turned 31 today.


I'm tired, my eyes are itchy, I'm full, and I have a lot of work to do. chris tried to give me some tylenol to take just a few minutes ago. I was looking at the back of it, to see what he was giving me, and I saw the expiration date. it was 10/06. I don't think that means october 6th.

which reminds me of this past easter. we went to easter dinner at his grandma & grandpa mackenzie's house. they always have cans of pop down in the basement, and I usually have a couple cokes while we're there. the first one I had tasted a little funny, but sometimes pop is like that. chris grabbed one for me for the road when we left. I told him that I thought the pop tasted funny, then I looked at the can.

it had the polar bears on it and snowflakes and other christmasy images. we laughed that the cans were a few months old, now understanding why the pop tasted a little funny.

then I rotated the can and saw something else.
it actually said the word "christmas."

last night we had birthday dinner with chris' family down in kalamazoo at bd's mongolian barbecue...probably our favorite place to go out to eat. most of his family had never been there (and most will never go again) but he got to choose since it was his birthday. chris got a sweet detroit tigers hat, and niece/goddaughter-to-be Keegan also had a present for him...a "used" diaper... really just a melted hersheys bar and green paint, but still disgustingly real enough looking. hehehehee

later when everyone was joking about chris being 31 and old, he said something like this to his sister, "You know, in 20 years keegan will be here, turning 31." there was a weird pause, then, "In 20 years she'll be 20, Chris"

that's why I keep him around, for the entertainment value. happy birthday, honey.
