the swell season

this weekend the musical bliss continued. we packed up a minivan with some friends (sans sick jules) and headed east for what promised to be an evening that would just melt me.
despite getting in the wrong line (VIP tickets only, folks. you need to go through the parking lot, around to the other side of the building, and get in that line) we happened to catch a glimpse of glen hansard and marketa irglova walking around across the street, videotaping or something.
tasha was uber cute and elizabeth...
well, gravity cannot keep this girl down... or her hair! she tried to pat it down, but we wouldn't let her because... well... I needed a snapshot with which to share here. own it, liz!
the official proof that I was there!
honestly, we were much closer than this shot implies. and from song 1 to the several songs that were played after they came out for their encore, I was in heaven. I'm still singing along, even today.

so here are my instructions for you: go rent the movie "Once", buy the soundtrack, befriend The Swell Season.

I told a friend of mine that after these crazy few weeks of life, glen hansard would make it all better. and so he did.

true story.

Sounds like you had a blast. I saw Swell Season in Portland earlier in the tour. They were awesome. I posted a review at my blog at http://isorski.blogspot.com/2008/04/concert-review-swell-season.html.

Also, NPR interviewed Glen and Marketa recently and you can hear it at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90093038&sc=emaf.
