glory be, i finally found something worth purchasing at the salvation army: a red samsonite luggage thing (i don't know what to call it, really). it's pretty sweet and totally made my day. i even took it in to Panera Bread with me I was so excited to have it (plus i didn't want anybody stealing such a wonder from my sister's doorless jeep). i'm a big fan of red and it's in excellent condition. now it needs a name. there will be a grand announcement when a fitting moniker has been determined.
i've been involved in more weddings than i care to count, but i've only been a bridesmaid twice. the first time was in college and i was a replacement bridesmaid...that's right, i was not first string quality. so that doesn't really count. the second time was a year or two ago in my sister-in-law's wedding.
now, i'm not broken up over this detail in my life. quite the contrary, i love singing and playing for weddings. i've had old friends call me up totally out of the blue for just this reason, and i love it. however, i've become so used to that being "my role", that I found myself really touched when i was recently asked to be a bridesmaid by one of my favorite people (she and her intended are in my speed dial top 10). the significance of such a request is not lost on me and a tear thought about being born (i'm not usually emotional). and it's only a bonus that i will NOT be required to wear some poofy, toulle-infested fuschia monstrosity, though i would do it for any of my friends!
