heinz rides again

i feel like i'm on one of those perpetual motion machine gadget things... you know, they're supposed to keep going but they never ever work?! anyhow, i have a day off tomorrow, so hopefully i'll recupe some more, sleep some more, and get caught up some more on work. all in all i can't complain, except for the feeling-like-crap part.

so lots has been going on this summer, complete with photographic evidence, that i've been pretty lax in sharing.

so here, my faithful friends, is this summer's official ketchup blog :)

thanks to our friends the hoeks, and some last-minute funding from my mother-in-law, we enjoyed watching the tigers win at comerica park with our brother-in-law, adam. it was a monumental night for adam as 1) he had never been to the park in time to see the game start, and 2) this was the first time the tigers emerged victorious in his presence. and it was a really good game :P

what would any blog be without a gratuitous white pine shot with the sis?! so far, a creepily similar picture has been taken on every one of our outings.

the water fowl never cease to amaze me here at woodland creek apartments. this picture does not do the captured event justice, as the single-file line extended from the pond on the left (about 15' away) to the pond on the right (another 15' or 20' away). we could all learn something from our fine, feathered friends. or at least lindsey's kindergartenders could...

meet paul bunyon!!!! august 31st was an exciting one for elizabeth...who purchased a bike! (pictured here on the same momentous day of purchase, on its first trip to rockford...complete with Dam Dogs, i might add) paul bunyon got his name on labor day, after another ride with me and lisa, and much harassment over how FREAKING HUGE the bike is, and how FREAKISHLY TALL the bike is compared to our...not to mention the MUTANT GIGANTOR elizabeth is while ON the bike. at the first joke about paul bunyon, elizabeth laughed really hard...the bike had revealed its name to us.

labor day we enjoyed more of the white pine, and ice cream (the Dam Dogs was closed....yes, there was weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, and then there was ice cream)... following the trek we moved our party to Target where some of us bought tennis skirts (group photos coming soon!) and elizabeth walked away with someone else's abandoned bag of goodies, complete with some sort of ointment for children. prophetic?

last but not least, meet our guard spider. he is large, he is disgusting, and he is the best. he's the navy seal of spiders. notice his clever (and slick) funnel-shaped entrance to his secret lair! (located conveniently behind him for faster-than-the-speed-of-light retreating) sometimes he escapes through there quite fast, and sometimes he just sits there just looking at us, boldly unafraid that we could squish him. he's probably pretty confident in that funnel. he deserves a brilliant name.
